Awakening of the Aether Core

Set against the rumbling wastes of a remote desert, this pre-Code thriller follows Dr. Ambrose Hargreaves, director of the Government Bureau of Deep Earth Research, who believes an 'aetheric reactor'—a colossal cosmic engine—sleeps beneath the crust. Secret boreholes and reckless experiments awaken an alien hum; compasses spin, skies blaze with spectral aurora, and monstrous subterranean things begin to crawl toward the surface.
